Indonesian Fauna


Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis) is a large species of lizard found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Motang and Gili Dasami. It growing to a maximum of length 3 metres (9.8 ft) in rare cases and weighing up to around 70 kilograms (150 lb).


Anoa is unique animal to Sulawesi. It is a species of pigmy buffalo, and they are the smallest of the wild cattle. There are 2 species : the Mountain Anoa (Bubalus quarlesi) and the Lowland Anoa (Bubalus depressicornis).

Bali Starling (Leucopsar rothschildi) is a type of warbler-sized, approximately 25cm in length, from the tribe Sturnidae, having the characteristics of white tuft, almost the entire body is covered a long white feathers, black wings thin at the edges, and dark blue skin on the eyes and legs. Bali Starling is found only in the forests of western island of Bali. This bird is also the only species endemic to Bali.


Javan rhinoceros (Rhinoceros sondaicus) is the most endangered species among the five species of rhinos in the world. This rhino is smaller than India rhino, generally has a gray body color blackish, has only one horn, with a length of about 25 cm but it is possible not grow or is very small in females. Weight of a Javan rhino can reach 900 - 2300 kg with a body length of about 2-4 m, and the height can reach almost 1.7 m.
